Frequently asked questions

Question: What happens after you request mosquito control service?

Response: Control measures are not immediately implemented upon receipt of a service request. Florida Administrative Code requires the county to confirm the mosquito species and level of infestation prior to control measure implementation. This ensures the proper control and treatment method is used.

Question: Are Mosquito Control service levels the same countywide?

Response: No they are not. Service levels vary depending upon location.

The East Volusia Mosquito Control District (EVMCD) is an established taxing district where all property owners in the district pay a tax (separate item on the tax bill) for mosquito control services year round. Property owners can call the Mosquito Control office or use the preferred, web based service request form.

Incorporated municipalities located on the west side of the county have annual service contracts with Volusia County Mosquito Control that are limited by a fixed amount of funding. Property owners must contact their cities to request mosquito control service and a city representative must authorize the service prior to county delivery.

Unincorporated areas outside the EVMCD and not within a west-side city limit receive mosquito control services however; it is limited by a fixed amount of funding from the Municipal Service District (MSD). Property owners can call the Mosquito Control office or use the preferred, web-based service request form.
